Camps That Are Available To You

Our “Homeschooling” School

Now, why are we promoting to Homeschoolers? Homeschoolers are obviously interested in having their children learning at home.

Mojave Academy was started with a bunch of kids of families that we knew that did not like the public school education. They were not getting the individual attention they needed, or they did not wanting the traditional education system. A school was created for these unique children from a small home. The kids lived there and were educated there, and it was very much like a homeschooling group, but everyone living together.

Our schoolhouse. Winters here are a lot of fun for our students!

We have since expanded and moved into a large campus. But even though we have a large campus, we take a maximum of 40 kids, and we keep our school as family-like as possible. Staff and students dine together in our dining room, and we all live on the campus. The classroom is unlike any you have seen anywhere else, as it is a relaxed atmosphere where students of all ages and grades study together on their own interests.

There is a reason that those who homeschool have decided not to do the public school education route. You will find that our purpose here aligns with that reason.

In most cases, homeschooling works wonders and we encourage you to continue! We can even suggest a great on-line schooling if you are interested, which can be done from home. They are a sister organization to us.

However in some cases homeschooling is harder than the parent or child thought it would be, and other solutions are being looked into. We may just be that solution.

Please review our philosophy and our Director’s Letter to get more information about our school. Additionally, review our programs, specifically our Life Basics program. Please look into what we offer, and see if this may be the solution you are looking for.

Our teachers are attentive and caring.

There are plenty of great activities!

In addition to being able to send your child here year-around, we also offer three to six month programs, and two-week camps during the school year, as well as a very fun and educational two-months of summer camp. Please see below for more information on our camps.

Camps – General Information

Camps are offered here year-around. Homeschoolers take advantage of our camps during the school year, and kids of all walks of life enjoy our summer camps. Our two-week camps are short term camps packed with lessons on the specific subject of the camp, as well as a mix of adventure during the afternoons. If your child attends a camp in the winter months, he/she will probably end up going skiing or snowboarding with us on one of our day trips to a great ski resort. If your child attends during the warmer months, other fun trips are available, such as a trip to the Wolf Reserve, the famous Balloon Festival in Albuquerque, the annual Pie Festival in our Pie Town and other fun trips.

Two-Week Camps

We have a variety of subjects that we can address on a two-week camp. The current ones are Math and Leadership. Any basic school subject can be addressed in a two-week camp. Any subject in our Life Basics program (such as Getting Along with Others, Responsibility and Making the Right Decisions) can be addressed in a camp as well.

Math Camp

Our Math Camp is a huge success. The Math program offered at our school is something you have never seen before. It is so precise that our 12 year olds who have been through the main part of the program can understand math better than most 17 year olds (we have tested this!).

One thing offered in our Math Camp is that the parent of the homeschooler can come along and learn how we teach our math program so that the program can be continued at home.

During the Math Camp, our head teacher will take your child back to the very basics of Math and bring him/her up through those basics, strengthening the foundation that all Math is based on. Once these fundamentals are thoroughly understood (where the child actually duplicates how this works in the real world, not just on the paper) then all later math subjects tend to slide into place.

Leadership Camp

During the Leadership camp, your child learns very simple information regarding being a leader in life. This includes data on how to choose your friends correctly, responsibility, moral codes and other such subjects. This is done using the technology of L. Ron Hubbard, philosopher and educator. Please note: it is not a psychological based program. There are no psychologists or such counselors on staff. This information comes from our Life Basics program which is created to teach children how to handle LIFE, beyond the study subjects covered in normal education systems.

Mojave Summer Camp

Summer camp is one of our most popular camps. 1 - 2 months of jam-packed learning and fun!

While at camp, your child will have responsibilities and chores and will be part of a rewards game that all students participate in.
