“I wanted to share my wins of being here at Mojave Academy as a student.

“I had a win of being able to do math without a calculator. Over the break my dad asked me to do a math problem and I did. My mom was checking the calculator at the same time. She was amazed at how I got the same answer as the calculator.

“In public schools I wasn’t really learning nor did I want to learn. I also got sick more. Now that I am here I love to study and I actually learn things. Also I don’t get sick nearly as much as I used to. In fact I think I was only sick once since I have been here. Also I was never close to receiving student of the month in public schools. Here I received one and it was so awesome because I wasn’t really expecting it.

“Also I used to sleep all day and not go anywhere at least not often. Now I always work and hang out with kids that are not a bad influence on me.”

“Before doing the Educational Repair program I wasn’t very willing to write and it stopped me in many areas that I wanted to achieve things in. But after doing the program I have been able to communicate more and am writing freely. My general willingness to study has come up and I feel I am more able to be in a classroom.

“I feel like I can get a lot more production outside of the classroom as well, such as physical work. I feel this program has helped me a lot on getting along with others too. I am also communicating better with my parents and communicating better with people my age, which was something I couldn’t do before.

“I want to thank the school very much for helping me get through this and all the effort they put into it.

“My wins after Mojave:

“I’ve had so many great wins since my 7-month stay at Mojave Academy. I completed my Life Basics program and had begun my Education Repair. This has helped my study habits more than anything else I’ve ever done!

“I have been home for 6 months and my life continues to get better and better.

“Once I arrived home, I enrolled into a tough private school in the middle of eighth grade. Previous to this I took an achievement test which I scored a 60% on a sixth grade math test. On my last report card I received a B+ in algebra ½. Using the Study Technology taught at Mojave, I made 2 years progress in 4 months! I could have never done this without the help I got at Mojave Academy. My parents as so proud of me…I am too! I’ve also been accepted into a great private high school, Monte Vista, a college prep school. I never thought I’d be able to do this.

“My son attended Mojave Academy for 5 years.

“He had never been happy in any school he had gone to, and we had tried many.

“He wasn’t a “bad’ kid - he just wasn’t happy sitting in a classroom at a desk for hours and hours each day.

“Then, we found out about Mojave Academy and its 3 programs (Life Basics, Educational Repair, and Academics) and that he would be able to choose his own program and not be stuck at a desk studying things he was not interested in (as he had always been.) We knew this was the place for him and that in addition to providing the right environment, the Mojave programs themselves, using only Mr. Hubbard’s technology on education and child raising, would handle things not normally handled in a traditional classroom and that he would benefit greatly.

“Our son thrived at Mojave. He went from the kid who wanted the simplest cleaning job to the most sought after worker during all-hands projects because he was such a hard worker.

“Our families constantly comment on what a fine young man he is (he is now 14) and how well he communicates with them and how mature he is for his age.

“This past summer at Mojave, he spent his mornings on math and writing (his two favorite subjects) when he wasn’t helping other students. He wrote a short comedy play that the students decided to perform as part of the summer talent show. He played the lead role and the play itself was a big hit.

“Recently, my wife and I were going to be out at dinner time and our son said he would make tacos for dinner. When I checked with him as to whether he knew what to do he said “Dad, I’ve cooked this meal for a lot more people at Mojave than just us 3″. When we got home, the tacos (which were excellent) were on the table.

“He also makes killer salads — better than I can do myself, I am afraid to admit. But, then, I didn’t have the opportunity to go to the Mojave Academy.”
