Transportation Information
The person at the school in charge of Transport can be reached by calling 575-772-5260, or contacting them via email. If you have an e-ticket, please email the itinerary to us. You may fax it as well at 575-772-5281.
If the student is not an unaccompanied minor (described below) he will generally be met right outside the security checkpoint, or at baggage claim. In this case please provide a detailed description of your child to the Transport In-Charge who will pass this information on to the person picking up at the airport. The person picking up at the airport normally wear a Mojave Academy T-Shirt to be easily identified.
Unaccompanied Minors
The unaccompanied minor policy is different for every airline. For most flights if your child is 14 or under he/she is an unaccompanied minor. Most airlines have fees for unaccompanied minors. Attached is an information sheet giving you the data for each major airline. If your airline is not listed on this sheet, you can call the airline customer service to get all the data you need.
Mojave Academy recommends Southwest airlines as they do not charge for unaccompanied minors, and have many nonstop flights to Albuquerque.
When an unaccompanied minor flies, the person putting him on the plane needs to provide the information of who is picking him up at his destination. Since we have several different staff members who can do the airport pick ups, we cannot give you this data until a week and a half before the scheduled day. This will not cause a problem for you, as this data is not required until you take your child to the airport.
Our designated staff member will meet your child as he/she comes out of the plane. There is no need for a description of your child as the flight steward will ensure that your child and our staff member meet up.
Unscheduled flying
If your child needs to fly at an unscheduled date or time, additional charges will apply, and not all dates will be available. Please contact the Transport In-Charge to arrange this before any unscheduled flights are purchased.
Buying your flight
Southwest is our recommended airline for flying children. One, they do not charge an extra fee, and two, they have many non-stop flights. This of course depends on where you are flying out of, however it is the case in most places. To buy a Southwest flight you must call them directly or go on their site (see next page). You cannot find a Southwest flight when doing broad searches using sites such as orbitz.com or travelocity.com.

FEES: $75 each way for non-stop or through flights, $100 each way for connecting flights.

Ages 5-14 can fly on connecting flights, no age restriction except under 5 years old. Can‟t fly on the last flight of the day.
FEES: $50 each way for non-stop or through flights, $100 each way for connecting flights.

FEE: $40 per trip per kid. Pay at airport only.
