Cultivating Green Living

Mojave Academy teaches sustainable living and healthy eating, through both teaching and by example.

Natural Food Supplies

The students assist the staff of Mojave Academy to raise own pigs, chickens and turkeys for meat. Bovine is purchased from the local farming community. The Academy has onsite garden that provides the school with a percentage of the vegetables, and many organic products are purchased for the students’ diet.

Healthy Diets

Students eat healthy, complete meals. Sugar products such as candy are only available on assigned days and meals are always free of food coloring and MSG. Vitamins, minerals, green food and other such healthy supplements are provided as routine.

Green Living Practices

New school buildings are in the planning stage and are being designed to be green, use solar energy and other methods so that minimum electricity and propane are needed to heat and cool them. Included in the plans are systems to save water and a greenhouse. Students are part of this process and will learn first hand about green living practices as the new buildings unfold.
